KNCCO will boycott Dongsuh Food and Crown Confectionery because they don’t comply with food safety regulations
-The stringent management of food safety is required
We at KNCCO (President: Lee Deok-seung) are expressing our serious concerns over a series of unethical behaviors recently demonstrated by food businesses.
We cannot help but feel deep dismay and astonishment over the detection of food poisoning bacteria in wafer cookies made by Crown Confectionery and how the Dongsuh Food’s Jincheon Factory has been reusing cereals in which E. coli was detected. These two cases show that we cannot trust these food corporation anymore.
With regards to measures taken by the government for deregulation of food safety laws in the effort to invigorate the economy, we would like to ask whether this deregulations should actually extend even to food products that are directly associated with people’s health.
The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) is responsible for neglecting to supervise food businesses. A drastic step should be taken to ensure that businesses improve their in-house quality inspection system and thorough inspection of HACCP certification businesses. We hereby ask the relevant authorities to impose stringent punishments on those businesses that are engaged in unethical practices.
We at KNCCO will boycott Dongsuh Food and Crown Confectionery whose practices threaten consumers’ safety and infringe on consumers’ rights.
