Ceremony and Street Campaign for Food Origin Labeling
At 11:00 AM on September 3, at the International Conference Hall of the Korea Press Center, the Korea National Council of Consumer Organizations (Hereafter KNCCO; Chairperson: Kim Cheon-ju,) held a ceremony to promote food origin labeling. After the ceremony, participants marched through Mugyo-dong, Insa-dong, Gwanghwamun, Namdaemun, and Myeongdong to raise public awareness about food origin labeling.
The purpose of this campaign is to help consumers understand food origin labeling so that they can choose the right food and encourage business entities to comply with food origin labeling in order to secure consumers’ trust and fair competition.
Seven member organizations of the KNCCO participated in the ceremony and street campaign. From September to December, more than 80 similar campaign events will be held around the country to help the concept of food origin labeling to take root.
