Celebrating the March 15th World Consumer Rights Day The Online Campaign “Care, Appoint and Urge”

The consumer movement was marked on 15th March with the World Consumer Rights Day, which was inspired by President John F. Kenney who stated in the Consumer Bill of Rights that every person has 4 basic rights as consumers – the right to be informed, the right to choose, the right to safety, and the right to be heard. In celebrating the World Consumer Rights Day, the Consumers International (CI) announced a new theme for this day. Every year, the consumer organizations in each country have held international cooperation movements in accordance with their situation, focusing on the presented theme. The theme for World Consumer Rights Day 2020 is “The Sustainable Consumer”. This theme suggests that we need to think about the ways in which we produce and consume goods and services, in order to protect the planet and to provide fair social conditions for the current and future generations. KNCCO (Chairperson: Ju Gyeong-Sun) came up with a plan to promote public consensus in relation to the “The Sustainable Consumer”, but changed to an online campaign titled “Care, Appoint and Urge” due to concerns over Korea’s current situation. Therefore, we will produce and distribute the news on cards that provide guidelines for consumers to protect their daily lives in the COVID-19 crisis for the week from March 14 (Sat) to March 20 (Fri), in order to keep calm and carry on
