“Cooking Skill Contest for Promoting Pork Consumption” Being Held

 

Korea Federation of Housewives Clubs plans to hold “Cooking Skill Contest” for promoting domestic pork consumption.  It is scheduled that the cooking skill contest will focus on cooking of parts like short ribs, sirloin and rear legs, which are less popular among the consumers, who prefer such parts as boned ribs, neck part and ribs more. Through the cooking skill contest, the Federation intends to promote pork consumption by developing or exploring diverse popular dishes using short ribs, sirloin and rear legs, which are less preferred by the consumers. The Federation wishes many consumers who love pork and are confident in cooking will participate in the contest, which will be held as follows:

 

  Written application: 11 ~ 21 October 2004

  Submission contents: Cooking methods (submitted in writing) using less preferred parts of pork (excluding boned ribs, neck part and ribs)

Staging Consumer Campaign for Establishing Business Practice of Displaying Product Origin and Selling Price

 

Providing accurate product information to the consumers is the most fundamental business obligation to protect consumer rights and provide selection options. The Network is going to stage activities to induce business practice of displaying product origin and selling prices, through monitoring by consumer action groups and voluntary agreements with industry leaders in cooperation with Seoul City Government, in order to establish business practice of displaying product origin and selling prices.

To that end, the Network will organize its consumer action groups with 40 members and will host education programs twice to establish a business practice of displaying product origin and selling prices. We look forward to active participation in the education programs for which the schedule is as follows:
