" We are the association of young women who believe that God is the creator and sovereign over history, and that all people are brothers and sisters under God. The purpose of the Young Women's Christian Association is to create a world where justice and peace prevail and the integrity of creation is preserved by abiding in the teaching of Christ."

   
  Activities
  Under the overarching motto "YMCA is the force for peace," we engage in activities to promote peace along the four major axes, corresponding to four essential components of peace: respect for human beings, care for the environment, owning and sharing, reconciliation and symbiosis.

  1) Respect for human beings
    - Banishing violence: 'Non-violence Week' events, campaigns to eradicate domestic violence and sexual violence
    - Communal society initiatives: Environmental watch programs

Initiatives for creating a healthy youth culture: Training of peer youth counselors, Y-teen Mailbox of Love, Youth Comic Drawing Festival, National College Student Forum on Women, Best TV Program Award, Youth-friendly Businesses listing
  2) Owning and sharing
    - Food drive: Sharing food with children in poverty and elderly people living alone
    - Anabada movement: Anabada stores
    - Consumer activism: Consumer support centers, programs to educate consumers, campaigns for a new consumption culture, activities to protect consumer rights
    - Volunteer service programs: International Voluntary Service Camp, volunteer teams dispatched to Community Service Volunteers
  3) Care for the Environment
    - Campaigns to encourage reduction of food waste and waste composting: Listing of eco-friendly restaurants and food service establishments, Earth-loving Family Newspaper Contest
    - Neighborhood eco initiatives: Neighborhood cooperative movement, safe food campaign
    - Environmental education, activities carried out by the Environmental Taskforce Team
  4) Reconciliation and symbiosis
    - Korea Reunification education: Development of school textbooks on peaceful reunification of Korea, and pilot classes
    - Solidarity drive for North Korean defectors: Support centers for North Korean defectors in South Korea, programs for training counselors
    - Aids for North Korea and South-North exchange: donation drives for North Korea (powdered milk, tangerines), South-North women's exchange
  5) Facilities
    - Community Welfare Hall, Women Labor Force Development Center, Senior Citizens Center, Children's House, Domestic and Sexual Violence Counseling Center, Youth Hall
